ABOUT THIS MAP

A map of relationships.

This edition uses the demonstration data in your supplied file: 45 fictional writers, 25 destinations and 271 relationships, including 45 program memberships.

The names and connections are generated examples. They do not document real UMass alumni, publications, representation or outcomes.

Five destinations have no connections in this sample. A missing connection does not establish that a relationship does not exist.

Three ways to look

Constellation shows the whole network. Career paths isolates one writer’s destinations, without implying a chronological sequence. Shared circles connects destinations by the number of writers they have in common.

Circle sizes show connection counts. In Shared circles, ribbon widths show shared writers; one writer can contribute to several ribbons.

Data structure & D3

The original IDs and all 271 links are preserved in the embedded atlas-data JSON. Views read the same nodes and links model. Replace that data block to connect verified records. Dates, sources and cohorts are not present in this sample.

Built with D3 force layouts, curved paths and chord geometry. D3 is included in this file for offline use.
